Heavyweight superstar Fedor Emelianenko defeated top-ranked lightweight Shinya Aoki in a grappling exhibition match at DEEP/M-1 Challenge in Japan today, besting the crafty and popular Japanese submission specialist with an anklelock. After his victory, the Russian sambo champ - who’s defeated the likes of Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia and various bears and Yetii in unarmed combat - was awarded the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) lightweight championship belt. “We feel that Fedor’s accomplishments as lightweight merit it,” said WAMMA executive Joe Bloggerstein

When the final river hit the felt Justin Bonomo had all of second place finisher, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi’s chips, thus ending the 2009 WSOP Circuit Tournament at Caesars Palace for 2009. The two seasoned pro poker players provided hours of exciting poker with each mounting a considerable chip lead over the other, then watch as they went back across the table again and again.
Listened to that conference call earlier in the week for the World Series of Poker. That was Tuesday morning, with Jeffrey Pollack (WSOP Commish), Jack Effel (WSOP Tournament Director), Doug White (ESPN’s Senior Director of Programming), and Seth Palansky (WSOP Communications Director) all offering a few observations and announcements, then taking questions from reporters.
Evidently the new Selena Roberts book on previously established liar / cheater / womanizer Alex Rodriguez, long rumored to be full of fantastically juicy dirt, merely asserts that he was even more of a liar / cheater/ womanizer than previously established. That’s it??? Play ball!
